The sod house or soddy was an often used alternative to
the log cabin during frontier settlement of the Great Plains of
Canada and the United States in the 1800s and early 1900s.

The Sod House Museum is a small interactive museum that is a must stop and see. There are a ton of historical antiques, artifacts and stories in the museum.

The museum is dedicated to the art and history of the sod house of pioneer days. Sod from thickly-rooted prairie grass was abundant, free, and could be used for house construction.

There are two sculptures that are made of barbwire, a native American on horseback and a prairie buffalo. The world's largest plow also known as a sod buster.
